This weekend we gathered together to play a game of quidditch. Quidditch is a game originally found in the Harry Potter series. Muggles have since created an adapted version to play on the ground rather than in the air.
There are three elevated goals on both sides of the field. Each team has some one guarding them. At the beginning of the game dodgeballs are placed in the center of the field. The goal is for each team to get the ball in the opposite goal without getting hit by the bludger or tagged by another player. While goals are being scored on the field, each team has a seeker searching the property for the snitch (another neutral player with a sock ball attached to their belt). The first seeker to "catch the snitch" wins 150 points for their team and ends the game! Oh! A rule I forgot. Every player (but the snitch) has to be on a broom. We made brooms out of pool noodles. Every player on a broom had to have at least one hand on their broom at all times. This made running and scoring points really funny looking and difficult.
This was such a fun game but it was so hot and because we were constantly running, it made it even hotter. The snitch added a fun element to the game. Depending on who the snitch and seekers were it made the game longer or short. The broom element was really fun. We all looked ridiculous and it was awesome. It's always a good feeling when students are so excited about an event that they don't care how ridiculous they look.
