Sermon in a Sentence: Let 2016 be a year of forgiveness.
The Word: Matthew 18:23-34
Summary: The unmerciful servant was not willing to forgive someone else's debt even though his master showed him mercy in his own debt. We are often unwilling to forgive people who have wronged us. Christ set the ultimate example and died on the cross for our sins so we would not have to. It is easy to hear that and go on our way at times, but I fear we often undervalue it. If he can do that and forgive us of some many things, why is it so hard to forgive people for smaller things.
Forgiveness is a process. Sometimes it is lengthly, but sometimes it's easy. Wherever we are on this spectrum, we need to begin this process of forgiveness. When we do not forgive, we only hurt ourselves.
